Empaths are paranormal, but empathy should be normalized.
Empathic Editing was founded in 2019 in Boulder, Colorado, famous home of the awesome granite slabs called the Flatirons—a Mecca for rock climbers—and the Buddhist institutions Naropa University, Boulder Book Store, and Trident Café and Booksellers.
Boulder has long fostered a prairie-mountain culture emphasizing time spent in the great outdoors, the study of alternative and Eastern medicines, and engagement in holistic healing. True to this legacy, Empathic Editing was branded to reflect the local ideals of mindfulness, intention, a clean and healthy environment, ethical business practices, and support for wildernesses. But above all, I value most the ideal of empathy.
In science and literature, the abilities of empaths are considered paranormal, and that’s the bar I’ve set for this service—such deep empathy for my clients, their work, their readers, and the world and culture in which we all live, that my understanding of where you’re coming from should feel uncanny.
statement on diversity and inclusion
Empathic Editing celebrates, supports, and uplifts diverse voices. I believe every individual, regardless of race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, nation of origin, religion, or political affiliation, is entitled to security, dignity, quality of life, and equal opportunity. I will always side with policy that preserves free speech, free expression, a free press, the right to vote, fact-based science and research, diversity, inclusion, and equal access. Empathic Editing is not a political organization, but as a service to writers and artists, I am invested in actively dismantling oppressive structures through the amplification of truth and personal experience.
