JASON BRANDT SCHAEFER, freelance editor
Jason is a writer, editor, and musician living in and inspired by Boulder, Colorado. A military kid who became an artist, he was born overseas into an eccentric, traveling family and has maintained his love of movement, exploration, and the humanities throughout his life. He studied jazz saxophone and blues guitar alongside creative writing, and he performs live as singer-songwriter Jason Brandt, leader of the Jason Brandt Band. He’s also seeking publication for his debut novel, a fictional chronicle about a South Texas family that converts from Lutheran Christianity to Wicca in the 1990s and begins experimenting with pagan ritual magic.
He holds an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts, an MA in English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University, and a certificate in publishing from the Denver Publishing Institute. He’s a talented and sensitive editor who has been freelancing since 2016. In former lives, he has worked as a print journalist, a copywriter for a major natural history museum, and an adjunct professor of composition and creative writing in four states. His writing appears in The MacGuffin, Vol. 1 Brooklyn, Past Ten, and the new experimental publication Skink Beat Review. His EP, “Jason Brandt & the Build-Out,” and his two singles, “Cat’s Got My Tongue” and “Green Fixie” are currently streaming on all platforms.
